A new MooContentAssist release is out: v.0.80.3

http://mootools.net/forge/p/moocontentassist

So a new MooContentAssist version is out.
Now fully working with MooTools 1.3, a new namespace parser fully rewritten.
The source is something like less of a mess :P

Screenshot-complex-vocabulary

With abstracted item extractor and item render now it's easier to play with more comple vocabularies.

Bugs, Mailing Lists, World Cup = Having Fun

I'm been busy in the last days, oh god.

First I've discovered a strange behaviour with the new FireBug alfa version (1.6X.a16).

I don't know if it happens only to me but, after upgrading my fully working version a12 to a16, FireBug became very slow.

So I reported the issue to the FireBug Team and with the help of John J. Barton, I think I've found a solution :P

If your FireBug is slow after upgrading try to disable the "Show DOM Constants" option from the DOM panel, it seems to be responsable for the slowness! DAMN!

Please report any comment to FireBug Group http://groups.google.com/group/firebug/browse_thread/thread/1ad44b8f7109f2df

Second, jAPS 2.0 changed mailing list!

Now you have to subscribe here:

http://groups.google.com/group/japs-platform

as you can see we've switched from sourceforge to google groups, which is more versatile.

Third, new MooContentAssist versions are popping out!

I'm making improvements with:

  • error messages
  • xml vocabulary
  • themes
  • API

With the next versions will be possible to display messages with their own style, I've thought users should be informed with no words are found :P

Xml vocabulary helps integrating the script with existing software. Existing CMS or already written things where it's possible and it's faster to write down a XML string rather then a JS.

I'm pushed in the git repo a css with themes and an API for apply them, so now just write few css lines and go ahead.

I'll write for help to the MooTools Group, I need advice for dealing with API and to decide what new features to implement.

Worldcup? Nothing to say, just a great one :D

A camel is a horse designed by committee

Media_httpmediasmashi_chbgb

I was browsing the feeds and I've missed a SmashingMagazine "Why Design-By-Committee Should Die" article.

"A camel is a horse designed by committee" so please reflect about it.
It's very important if you are a developer or a "committee".

As a web developer I have to agree with SM, and I have to admit sometimes committees/clients/customers should let others take decisions they cannot take, just because of their incompetence.
